In 2019, Friends United joined members of the former Rotary Club of Port Hawkesbury at the Rotary International Convention in Hamburg, Germany. The short film offers a glimpse into this international gathering and shows how Friends United shared its work, its artists, and its message with Rotarians from around the world.

Friends United founder Rolf Bouman attended the convention together with former Nova Scotia premier Rodney MacDonald and First Nations artist and educator Jay Bell Redbird, who represented Canada as a First Nations ambassador. The clip remains an important part of the project’s history and its effort to build awareness, dialogue, and support beyond Canada.

The Friends United project was officially launched during a public exhibition at Casino Nova Scotia in Halifax in September 2013. Community leaders, Indigenous representatives, artists and supporters came together to celebrate a vision that continues to grow today through art, culture and reconciliation.
