David R. Maracle’s creative work extends beyond stone sculpture into music and cultural education. His artistic practice brings together visual art, music, Mohawk heritage, and cultural exchange.
David first met Friends United founder Rolf Bouman in 2014 through their mutual friend and artist Jay Bell Redbird. His work has since become closely connected with Friends United, with sculptures and music represented at the Friends United International Convention Centre.
His musical connection with Friends United also includes a shared performance with European musicians John Kelly and Maite Itoiz. The performance brings Indigenous and international artists together through music and reflects the wider Friends United focus on cultural exchange and artistic connection.
