Mindy Eva Ouellet’s artwork is characterized by intricate detail, vivid colour and layered symbolic imagery. Human figures, animals, celestial forms and elements of nature appear throughout her compositions, creating visually complex works centred on spirituality, transformation and the relationship between people and the natural world.
Work and Legacy
Mindy Eva Ouellet’s artistic journey has been shaped by personal exploration, spirituality and encounters with artists and mentors including Duke Redbird and Jay Bell Redbird. Through her work with the New Earth Gallery in Toronto, she received the spiritual name MINDEVA, which continues to be associated with her art.
Her work has also reached international audiences through exhibitions at Galerie Vyšehrad in Prague, including exhibitions in 2009, 2014 and 2017. Rolf Bouman later encountered her artwork through Jay Bell Redbird, beginning her connection with Friends United. A selection of her works can be viewed at the Friends United International Convention Centre in Unama’ki, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
